Good Gift

I've been thinking a lot about God's gifts lately. We've been praying for a friend battling cancer. We've been asking God for healing, asking (at her request) that He help her to see this season as beautiful in it's time, and asking that in her living and preparing for death (whenever that may be) that He will be glorified. God spoke to me through this passage: "What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him! ”- Luke 11:11-13  We've been asking Him for gifts for our friend. And He reminded me that He is giving her (and us) THE gift. Himself. He doesn't just just give healing, but The Healer. Not just finances, but The Provider. Not just wisdom, but The Spirit, who is wisdom, to live in us and walk thro...

Pray with depth

God is so good to answer when we seek Him. I'm learning that even in my time alone with Him I tend to hold back or do some things traditionally. He's so gently opening my heart to experience Him in new ways through His Word and prayer. This quote just fit so perfectly with where I'm longing for my heart towards Him to stay always: Grant that I may not pray alone with the mouth; help me that I may pray from the depths of my heart. - Luther Praying for you as you seek Him as well. May He open our hearts to Him and radically change our lives to live fully in Him, excitedly meeting with Him and sharing Him with all as we look forward to seeing Him face to face for eternity!

"Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith." -Hebrews 13:7 One way Andy and I like to "make the most" of our calendar year is by remembering people who we loved and loved us that have died. On the anniversary of my brother's death, we pray for my family as soon as we wake up in the morning. On the anniversary of my Grandpa's death, I email my Dad after we pray to let him know someone else remembers. We have others as well (putting a wreath on my friends grave, calling a friend's Mom, etc.) Today, we are starting a new tradition in our house. This morning at breakfast, we are taking a few minutes to remember our Gam. This is the first person Jimmy loved who has died and we want him to know how good it is to remember. Sweet Gam- You are loved and missed We're following the structure of Hebrews 13:7:   Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word o...

rock out!

MY friend Susy ROCKS! She is amazing in many ways and a huge blessing to my life. She was the first Christian I ever knew, taught me songs from Bible camp, and has poured into me differently in each season of my life. She is also one of the most creative people I know. And she is just so humble. Today, I'm encouraging you to learn from her as she engages her boys in praying. One way she prays with her kids is by collecting rocks. Read her full post here and here's a fun picture of her rocks: I've had awesome conversations with Jimmy as we hunt out rocks every so often to add to our bowl. My friend Allison gave us a tip to paint the rocks different colors to help non-readers. This way we know as we grab the blue rock that it's Daddy or the orange is for Gigi, etc...
